Fat can be a dirty word. But it is what makes a great steak taste great. And it does serve a purpose in our bodies when we’re stranded on a desert island with only leaves to eat.
But for the rest of us, unwanted fat is the bane of our bodies. Losing fat overall is a good thing, but there are always pockets of stubborn fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise. No matter how hard you try you can’t get rid of them.
Liposuction with Dr. Ip can, though.
Areas where liposuction is effective
Liposuction is the best way to remove stubborn pockets of fat. It can be done as a stand-alone procedure or as an adjunct to other procedures such as breast reduction or a neck lift. The typical areas Dr. Ip remedies with liposuction are the neck, chest, arms, the back, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, and ankles.
Three different methods for liposuction
Dr. Ip uses three different methods for his liposuction procedures.
- Tumescent liposuction — In this method a sterile saline solution that also contains adrenaline and lidocaine is injected into the target area. The saltwater helps loosen the fat molecules to make their removal easier. The adrenaline helps reduce bleeding, which lessens bruising afterwards. And the lidocaine makes the procedure painless.
- Powered liposuction — In this method the cannula mechanically moves back and forth in a sweeping motion. This makes harvesting the fat easier. Dr. Ip uses powered liposuction on smaller areas because it is very precise and creates minimal swelling afterwards.
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction — In this method a small metallic rod is inserted into the incision. It emits ultrasound waves that break up the fat, making it easier to remove.
